Strategic Thought is happy to offer a free 30-day trial of our Active Integrator - Files Gateway software. All you need to do is to download it from us and send an email requesting a password.

Active Integrator is a single-ended application, in that it can en-queue a file as a message that will then be sent off to a completely different application.

Many solutions involving file transfer over MQ require that you run the solution at both ends - Active Integrator does not. As such it can be used either as a reliable file transfer mechanism, or as a file-to-message and message-to-file adapter allowing integration of legacy applications into an MQ enabled architecture.

Philosophy:

The Files Gateway is designed to be a fast, efficient message-to-file and file-to-message processing engine. The Gateway will work quickly and effectively as a standalone application, but it is designed in such a way that it will integrate with other tools an organisation may already be using.

The key principle behind its development has been to concentrate on core requirements for the product, and not to try to expand it’s functionality into areas which are often better covered with specific add-on products. For example:

• Enterprise monitoring – the Gateway can output log messages in machine-readable form (or XML) which are designed to be read by a log-agent. However the GUI also provides basic management and monitoring capabilities for those organisations without a corporate EM solution.
  
• Fault tolerance – the Gateway is designed to be run in a multiple-instance configuration, and is able to be run under operating system level clustering if required (for example Microsoft Cluster Server or Veritas).
  
• Security – the Gateway does not attempt to perform encryption and decryption of messages – this is left up to an individual organisation to integrate any encryption solution they may already have.
